00:00 Hi, this is Kelly Garrett from Extreme Ag. I'm here today with Scott Meldrum from Van Wall. Scott and I have known each other for a few years. 00:06 We're standing here today by my new four 12 sprayer with the Sea and Spray technology. I could really geek out on the technology. 00:12 You know, we, extreme ag went to Austin with John Deere in December, and we played around with the sprayer, things like that. 00:18 I'm amazed at what it can do. Uh, the, the ai, if you would call it that, is now coming into agriculture. 00:24 Here's an example of it. So what we have here, Kelly, is, is a, uh, this one is actually a Modeler 23, um, four 12 R 00:31 that actually was, um, we call field installed a c and spray premium kit. So it didn't come outta the factory this way, 00:38 and this was an add-on. Um, and what this does is we took an existing four 12 R 120 foot steel boom that had exact apply on it, 00:46 and we added the camera system to it. Um, there are 36 cameras on this boom. Um, there are six, what are called vpu 00:54 video processing units. So basically it takes the information that these cameras are, are, are pulling in and processes them and, 01:02 and it basically says, I see a weed. Now the VPU says, is it a weed? Do I spray it? What do I do? And then the machine sprays it, 01:09 it can turn on a minimum of three nozzles. And all of this takes, um, less time to see the weed and decide to spray it 01:17 and actually spray it than it takes you to blink your eye. It's, it's all happening. It's that fast, 01:21 Fast, Fast, 120 foot boom, 12 miles an hour. We're, we're scanning about 2000 square feet every second. So that's about the size of the average house in the us. 01:31 So, uh, like you said, the, the AI in, in agriculture, it's not live ai. We're capturing images 01:38 and then the model gets smarter over time, but it does require a software update. But you have the, the, uh, latest software build. 01:46 Um, and that's something that's part of the business model that every, you know, season we're gonna come out 01:52 and we're gonna update these vpu. So they're, they just get smarter and better and quicker over 01:57 Time. And you talked about that. There's already one example when we first put this on, it really wasn't approved 02:02 for 20 inch beans, right? Which is what we plant now we're approved for 20 inch beans. We, we are with this one. They, 02:07 the seed spray premium now is approved for, for narrower rows. Um, uh, that does limit our height of our crop, you know, 02:14 with the, with the narrower rows, you know, we're, we're nine inches versus 16 inches. But yeah, it's, it just keeps getting better and better. 02:20 Um, and this is something I think's going to, uh, continue to, uh, um, improve 02:25 and features are gonna get added to it over time. And I'm a big numbers guy. I'm always trying to increase efficiency, you know, like 02:31 what if we pick up more land, but we don't wanna get more equipment? You talked about an example of a guy in central Iowa. 02:36 One of your customers, he sprayed for eight hours. Yeah. So instead of mixing up an 80 acre load, he mixed up a load 02:42 and he went out with the sea and spray Yeah. And sprayed for eight hours. I like, I mean, you're talking four 02:47 or 500 acres potentially. Yeah. On one, on one tank. On one tank. Think about the chemical savings 02:52 and think about the efficiency of that. That exactly. All while, um, maintaining, you know, what we call clean fields, you know, that 03:00 that's the thing is, um, you know, uh, priority is clean fields, then chemical savings, you know? Right, exactly. Exactly. 03:07 Yeah. So, you know, we wanna make sure, you know, our, our growers in Iowa and the Midwest, you know, we're across the whole US 03:13 take very, very much a lot of pride in their fields being cleaned. No weeds. That's huge. 03:19 And, and this machine, it, it doesn't, it gets there. We still have our clean fields, but we're saving chemicals, which is, is a, 03:26 a financial, um, incentive there. Mm-Hmm. To the grower, but also think about, um, environmental, you know, 03:31 we're being stewards of the land that's only put the chemical where we need it, you know? Um, that's right. A huge change in thinking, you know, um, 03:39 for your entire career, you know, for my 20 years in the business, we sprayed every square inch of every acre. 03:46 And now we're saying, Hey Kelly, we got this one that may only spray 30% of the acres. Uh, it's a lot of trust that, uh, that growers have to, uh, 03:56 um, be willing to put in the, in the technology. You're, you're a hundred percent correct. The, the number one priority is clean fields. 04:02 But long term, I believe this technology helps us maintain clean fields because the weeds don't become, uh, so immune 04:09 to that chemical technology so fast. You know, your roundup doesn't work as well as it used to. Exactly. If we would've had this back in what, 96, 04:16 when Roundup came out, maybe the roundup would've lasted longer. You know, things like that. Yeah. 04:20 This will all help because of the over application of the chemicals. You're correct. I'm really excited 04:25 about this technology, Scott. I'm excited about this sprayer. I'm excited about the partnership with Van Wall, 04:30 and, uh, I appreciate everything you do. Perfect. Thanks a lot.
