Soil Sampling The Rudy Field
Mike is taking soil samples for some new soil diagnostic tools that he'll be employing on Kelly Garrett's farm to get more insights into soil biology, diversification, mineralization, and more.
00:00 Good afternoon, everyone Mike Evans here with integrated AG Solutions coming to you from Kelly Karen's winter 00:06 wheat field here and Western Iowa got my temple roads headset on today because you know, I just want to be like Temple, it's December 30th. It's 40 degrees. It's about 00:15 80 degrees warmer and it was last week when we had 40 to 50 45 below windshields with that winter storm that pushed through. I've 00:21 got a moisture got some green in front of it and got some snow. So it's good to see it's actually muddy out here, which we're really needed that could use this in October, 00:30 but we'll take him to get I'm actually out pulling soil samples with a pickaxe because there's about 00:36 a foot of frost here, but we're working on some new diagnostic tools that we're trying 00:42 to use in 2023 not on just weave of corn soybeans and we're pulling these samples just to get him into the lab. There's about two and a half three months lead time. I'll get the results 00:51 back. So try to get these in for this week comes out of dormancy. So we kind of get an idea what's going on what 00:57 the sampling does it's more looking at the Your soil what's going on? What's the mineralization? What's the biology life? What do we got for University in 01:06 the soil? And it's a pretty in-depth diagnostic tool with us why it takes a lot. Obviously you can tell we're not using the probe because the conditions 01:15 so we got to work with the data's more important probably using the soil probe right now. I know some people might cringe at that but we got 01:24 to get it done if we want to play this in 2023. So sometimes you just gotta do what you got to do got to go Extreme as boys 01:30 say but if you look at the field, yeah, it's not as green as temples was from the video about a couple weeks ago and Matt and Chad we're out there it is doing the 01:39 weed Angels. I'm Chad come up here and try to eat Angel more of a mud Angel by what we got up here, but I'm calling this field Rudy. 01:50 We're gonna give her a shot. We're gonna come back from the dead here as we feel isn't very very Lush at 01:56 all, but it's up. It's spiked. So it's got a chance and we're gonna give it all again. Let's see what we can do follow us along here in the year. We're pulling 02:05 some new tactics with Kelly's wheat and some things that I think are gonna be grower standard practice going forward, 02:14 but we're gonna try to false long and on what we're doing here and what we're using. Thanks.
