00:00 Hey, they were talking about a grain cart and innovations that might help speed up the harvest process. 00:04 Kelly Garrett here in Iowa has a Demco machine behind us. Frankly, it looks big enough to fill a grain, uh, 00:10 a grain trailer on a, on a, on a train. Uh, it's huge and it's got some things that make it look very different from the last time I ran a grain buggy in Indiana. 00:19 So, talk to me about what we got here. Well, typically we've been running thousand bushel carts, but in our hills it's hard to put a thousand bushel on 'em 00:26 because the grain will run over the side. Right. This cart is 1500 bushel in the, in the hills it's safer 00:31 because the grain is at a lower, uh, center of gravity. Right. For the person that's tuning in for the first time. 00:36 There are some massive hills over here in, uh, west Northwest Iowa. And I actually always make the point 00:43 that if there were hills like this in my part of the world, we'd put a chairlift on it and call it a ski a ski resort. 00:49 That's a big thing. 'cause it's safety. Yeah. A thousand bushel grain carts probably enough. It's gonna fill your trail, your uh, your semi trailer. 00:56 But a thousand going on a 40% slope means your grains can run off the side of it. So that's actually the big one. Yes. 01:01 Grain savings is maybe the thing for you. Yes. And safety because it's Gone lower. Well that it, it add, 01:06 it's safer and it adds to efficiency because I can go to the truck one time. Got it. With a thousand bushel cart in Mar Hills really 01:12 becomes a 750 bushel cart. You gotta go to the truck twice. So here I can go to the truck once. 01:17 The other obvious thing is the auger on the right side out there in front of the cab. Very ergonomic, very easy for the operator to see. 01:24 Got it. So, um, it looks, it looks different. It's, it's sticking out on a 45 degree angle versus on like a 90 degree angle. 01:31 Ants on the right side. The idea is my, my controls are all over here. For somebody like you been driving a tractor your entire 01:38 life, does it really matter? You could run it with it over on the left and it wouldn't matter. 01:42 You could, it, it does matter. It's, it's much more comfortable. Your head, everything swivels When you're in the planter, 01:49 uh, when you're in the anhydrous bar, we are conditioned to swivel to the right. We drive with our left. Yeah. 01:54 We have our hydraulic controls. Everything in the right hand that is much more comfortable. So 01:58 There's a big huge tank right here. And I'm thinking, what is that for you? We don't put treatment on the 02:02 grain when it's in a grain cart. Why do I need this big tank? It's, uh, fire suppression. Okay. 02:06 Which is, you know, a bearing goes out on the combine. Uh, look how windy it is today. Okay. Very easy for a fire to start. 02:13 Grain carts don't catch on fire. No, but the thing that they service the combine. Yes. Commonly catch on fire. 02:18 Yeah. This is a very logical spot to put a fire suppression system. Great fire suppression system has 02:22 got a pump on or something like this. Yep. Okay. Tracks. Um, I've seen more of this. You go to farm progress show, you see more tracks on 'em. 02:28 It's because we've got a huge load and a bunch of tons I'm assuming. Yep. Okay. So the cart's getting bigger 02:33 and you know, let's say we had a cart, uh, our other carts have one axle, uh, you know, one tire on either side 02:39 and we're gonna have 45, 50,000 pounds on there. Okay. And the compaction that goes with it, this might have 80,000 pounds on it, 02:48 but really it's less pounds per square inch because of the footprint we're making with the track versus the tire. 02:53 This cart, I believe, loaded, even though it's a bigger load, will make less of a footprint, less 02:59 of a compaction problem than our other carts that were smaller with tires. Got it. Kelly Garrett coming at you from GLC. 03:04 There's a field day about to happen right back there. If you are watching this and you're not at coming to our field days, 03:09 you really should come to our field days. 'cause you know what, we have five of 'em this year from Chads in Alabama to Kelly Garrett here 03:14 to, uh, McGee, Arkansas, June 27th and then August 8th, we're gonna be in our, in North Carolina. And August 22nd we're going 03:20 to be in Maryland at Temple Road. You should catch at least one of our field days. We're open to the public. We'd love to see you there. 03:25 Until next time, Amy Mason, extreme ag.
